INSPIRING SPEAKERS
One of the most common fears is
speaking in front of an audience. Even during a class presentation, we either
say nothing or speak a small amount of words. We have a mouth and we can talk,
but we were born into a judgmental society. When in front of an audience (your
teacher, your classmates and your friends) you become nervous and doubt
yourself. You forget your lines and you are worried of becoming embarrassed. However,
there are some people who have gotten in front of a stage and spoken
confidently and made the audience feel connected. So, the next time YOU have a
presentation or you want to make a point in class….how do you do it? Here are
some public speakers that have inspired every generation to speak without being
afraid.
·
Dananjaya Hettiarachchi
The first Sri Lankan
public speaker who won World Champion of Public Speaking (WCPS) in 2014
·
Darren Tay
The 27-year-old
Singaporean lawyer became the Toastmasters International world champion of
public speaking in 2016
·
Ramona J. Smith
A professional
speaker, author, and poet from Cleveland, Ohio. Ramona is also known as the
Ladybug Speaker. She recently resided in Los Angeles, California, and delivered
dozens of motivational speeches and poems.
·
Aaron Beverly
Although he won the
title of WCPS in 2019, in 2016 he made the audience laugh with his speech
title. “Leave a lasting memory using as few words as possible and strive with
every fiber of your being to avoid being the type of person who rambles on and
on but no end in sight more likely than not causing more listeners to sit and
think to themselves oh my goodness can somebody please make this stop?”
·
Verity Price
The woman who
won the 2021 in WCPS had given a speech under the topic a “a great read”
If you want a
little confidence to share your presentation efficiently and not turn it into a
boring lecture on how responsible you should be, you can search the speeches
that these people have said and take their advice into your heart. You can
break down that the wall of doubt and build up the courage and confidence back. Who
knows? Maybe in a few years….I’ll be seeing you on stage.
