Are human beings superior to animals? Or are they just different? Gorilla killed after child falls into habitat- ABC News On May 28th, 2016 t he Cincinnati Zoo faced quite an issue when a three year old fell into the moat Gorilla World Habitat. Harambe, a 17 year old Gorilla dragged the child through the moat. Most people saw this as an immediate threat, as the boy's head hit the concrete floor. Harambe stopped when the witnesses started to scream louder and he picked the boy up and held his arm. He then proceeded to get the boy to land. The zoo finally decided to shoot the gorilla while the boy was between his legs. He was killed with one rifle shot. The reactions were unforgettable. Some stated that the gorilla was simply confused and scared, and seemed to be protecting the child. others were quick to blame the mother. Several vigils were held to honour Harambe.
